Held by the Horizonless Moment
12x16” original oil on canvas panel
Palette knife, impasto texture
Painted on location, Monterey Bay, California
This piece was created during a pivotal season of transformation, one of those days where time blurs, but the body remembers. I don’t recall the exact moment I painted it, only that the wind was moving, the tide was breathing, and something in me was shifting with it.
The textured palette knife strokes echo the rhythm of the sea, layered, alive, and always in motion. With sweeping greens, soft violets, and flashes of light across the wave crests, the painting captures that in-between place: when something has already changed, even if we don’t yet have the words for it.
This work is for the collector who feels connected to the ocean, to becoming, and to the unseen moments that carry us forward.
Canvas panel, unframed
